The Darkness

I finally got my hands on the new Darkness album a few days ago – ooh my!
It’s very late 80′s – early 90′s in its sound again, probably more than the first album to be honest. Excellent stuff.
The stand out tracks? One Way Ticket (Track 1), Dinner Lady Arms (T4), Hazel Eyes (T6), Girlfriend (T8) and English Country Garden (T9).

Raiding the 20th Century

DJ Food (Strictly Kev) has recently remixed his excellent ‘Raiding the 20th Century‘ mp3 mix/mash-up he created in Jan 2004 for XFM’s ‘The Remix‘ show in London. It’s now 20 mins longer, and features the voice of Paul Morley, who inspired the original recording, reading excerpts of his book ‘Words & Music‘.
Both feature some superb mixes of tunes from both ends of the musical spectrum (including Busta Rhymes’ song ‘Woohah‘ mixed with the ‘Steptoe and Son‘ theme tune! Genius).

Derek & Clive
Posted on October 12, 2005, by Darren, under Music, Personal.
Peter Cook & Dudley Moore, two very funny guys, had huge success with two characters called ‘Pete & Dud’ in the 60-70′s.
What many people might not realise is that Pete & Dud were only one half of the story – Cook and Moore also created nasty versions of the pairing called ‘Derek & Clive’, who had very foul mouths.
I’ve recently been back through my MP3 collection and come across my ‘D&C’ collection of sketches, and they are still extremely funny.
If you’ve never heard any of Cook & Moore’s work I suggest having a listen to them as their albums can be had new from Amazon quite cheap – and check out their Wiki page – here.
