The Power of Advertising
Posted on December 27, 2005, by Darren, under Cars, World/Web News.

Just had to say a little something about Honda’s new Power of Dreams advert.
It is brilliant!
Shot in New Zealand & Barcelona, the two minute spot features a guy riding/driving a range of Honda vehicles, right from the 50′s Monkey Bike, through the Super Cub C100, ATV (Quad), S600, Goldwing, 60′s Isle of Man TT Racer, S2000, NSX, Fireblade, a 1963 Formula One car, modern F1 car, 225hp Powerboat and finally onto a hot air balloon.
The ad is the latest in the company’s ‘Image Up’ campaign which has also produced the ‘Cog’ ad for the new Accord and the ‘Hate Something-Change Something’ ad for their new Diesel engine earlier in 2005.
Keep a look out for the next ad, which should appear in January-February when the new sexy Civic arrives here in the UK.
If anyone wants the PoD ad I have a 30mb high-quality version I can send them (just drop a note in the comments
).
Oh, and in case you’re wondering – the song on the ad is called ‘The Impossible Dream’ by Andy Williams (download the MP3).

MSN Live Mail
Posted on December 26, 2005, by Darren, under World/Web News.
I managed to get onto the Microsoft MSN Live Mail beta trial a few days ago.
This new web-based e-mail system is going to replace the Hotmail service sometime in 2006. Click the thumbnail (right) to see a screenshot.
I have to say, it’s very quick. It looks a little empty right now, but it’s a definite improvement over the currently Hotmail UI. Microsoft are hoping to take on Google’s GMail service, which was one of the big hits of 2005, by also offering 2GB of on-line mail storage, an enhanced AJAX-style interactive interface, heavy spam filtering and message previews (without message opening) similar to its Outlook software. Right-click controls are also available for sorting your messages quickly.
A welcomed addition is the Calendar section, which is similar to the one found in MS Outlook, but has an added twist. You are able to set the calendar so that when important dates/meetings are coming up, an e-mail message gets sent to your account! This is very useful as it is, but will be more so with the addition of the Messenger client (little ‘toaster’ reminders pop-up whenever you get new mail).
Tasks and Notes have also been added to this section. You are even able to share Notes, Task or even the calendar with others on your friends/buddy lists. Very slick.
All in all – it seems MS are very determined to take back some of what Google stole with their mail system in 2006, especially when you consider that ‘Live Mail‘ will only be ONE part of the ‘Live’ domain MS are working on. A new ‘Live Messenger‘ is on its way, along with ‘Live Favourites‘, ‘Live Safety Center‘, ‘Live OneCare‘, ‘Live Search‘, ‘Live Local‘, ‘Live Office‘ (yes – a full Office suite on-line!), ‘Live Xbox 360‘ and ‘Live Jobs‘. No doubt, more ‘Live’ areas will follow thoughout 2006.
Anyone wanting to try it out needs to have a current Hotmail account and live in either the UK, USA, Germany, Spain, Italy, Brazil, Japan, France, China, Canada, or Australia.

Honda have an updated ASIMO robot out, along with a new dedicated information website.
The humanoid robot now features the ability to pursue key tasks in a real-life environment such as an office and an advanced level of physical capabilities.
There are tonnes of pictures, and videos to watch too. All I want to know is – When can I buy one?
Take a look : Visit the new ASIMO website

Christmas Number 1
Posted on December 8, 2005, by Darren, under World/Web News.
The race is on for the Christmas Number 1 in the UK, and this year there is one song that stands out a little more than the others.
It’s called the JCB song, by Nizlopi, and is a tale of a five year old boy called Luke, who drives round with his dad on a JCB digger rather than go to school where he is often bullied. Although it may sound a bit gloomy, it’s quite an upbeat tune – and sounds great in its acoustic format.
It was originally released in June 2005, but after getting a dedicated website and being passed round by word of mouth, the song has become very popular on-line. So this coming Monday, December 12th it’s being re-released in time for Christmas.
