Personal UPS
Posted on August 10, 2009, by Darren, under Technology.
A few months ago I picked up a personal UPS to use on my main computer. I plumped for a reasonably cheap version, one that only lasts up to 20 minutes but this is enough time to power the machine down and avoid those dreaded Windows harddisk / driver errors when a machine is turned off unexpectedly.
The Trust version I bought also has a spare surge protection port and a socket for a phone, good if you needed to keep an answering machine on etc.
Its worth getting one if you get regular power outages, or are paranoid like me.

Woopra Analytics 1.3.1
Posted on August 8, 2009, by Darren, under Software, Technology, World/Web News.

Woopra, the on-line & desktop analytic software has been updated to the new 1.3.1 version. The beta software is still undergoing testing, with over 90,000 users, and is not likely to be launched fully until the end of the year, or even early 2010.
I’ve been using the software for well over a year and a half now and it’s stunning – think Google Analytics on steroids – as it pulls live data from your site. I managed to witness this software running on a large newspaper website a few months back and it was pinging well over 550 simultaneous users. The downside of this number of users was the 10,000 page views per day (beta) limit ran out very quickly.
Current users are constantly asking when the full paid for version is coming, and I’m happy to say I’m one of them.

Honda have shown off their shiny new roadster concept at the British International Motor Show in London.
Their are many hints/indicators from the CR-Z concept (that is now going into production), but Honda have said that its purely a design study. Boooo!

Honda F1 2008
Posted on January 29, 2008, by Darren, under Cars, Honda, Technology.
Honda F1 have just announced their 2008 car (right). The team are punting this as a vast improvement on last years car, which lets be honest, isn’t a difficult thing to pull off.
With Ross Brawn (ex Ferrari) now in charge as team principle things could be on the up this season, although they’ve got quite a challenge to pull themselves back to where they were in 2006 so best not to hope for too much straight out of the box in Melbourne in a few months time.
