Honda CR-Z

Posted on October 9, 2007, by , under Cars, World/Web News.

Honda CR-ZComing soon to the Tokyo Auto Show is the new Honda CR-Z concept car.

Based loosely on the CR-X from the early ’80s, the car is a bang up-to-date vision of Hondas’ vision of its next generation of cars.

I’m not too sure of the ‘guppy-mouth’ grill – it looks a bit too Peugeot 407-esque, but it is only a concept.

New HR-V?

Posted on January 5, 2007, by , under Cars, Technology.

New Honda HR-V?Spy pics are currently doing the rounds on a possible new Honda HR-V replacement for 2008-2009 (click image to enlarge).

There is a lot of spin around the vehicle at the moment, mainly on whether it is in fact a JDM at all (lots of poorly informed people are touting it as a Ford due to ‘it being parked next to a Land Rover Discovery 3!) – but there are many indicators to say that is could be the new replacement for the HR-V.

It’s said to be longer than the original HR-V (490mm longer), but smaller than the recently updated CR-V. A 7-seat configuration is also being touted – which would be a huge improvement on the poor 4-seat layout on the old model.

Image spotted in Japanese Magazine - The new HR-V?Styling cues on the car also point to Honda, take for example the front grill – this configuration has recently been seen on the Stepvan Concept and Mobilio Spike concept at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Other cues include the front window/B-Pillar being very simiar to the Element (sources say that the Element is not yet ready for a major redesign so this rules that model out).

Whatever comes of it – I doubt it would be called the HR-V anyway.

Update: TheHollywoodExtra is saying the car IS a Honda and that it WON’T be called HR-V, but rather the Honda Crossover. This could mean that the second image above is a concept for the new Stream model.

VW 20-story Car Tower

Posted on May 12, 2006, by , under Cars, Technology.

VW Storage CentreVolkswagen have an amazing car storage centre in Wolfsburg, Germany (click thumbnail to englare).

I’m sure I’ve heard of these kind of things before somewhere else on the net, manufacturers in Japan I think.

From the main site blurb :

“In a fully automated procedure, your new car is brought down to you from one of the 20-story Car Towers. Large signboards in the Customer Center show you when your turn has come. Then, you’re handed the keys, your picture is taken, the glass doors open and your brand-new car appears. You’re all set to go.”

I bet when it goes wrong though… it GOES WRONG! :-)

118-118

The 118-118 Choir“This is what it feels like to be 118-118″

There’s a genius new advert on UK television at the moment sending up the ‘Honda Choir’ spot for the new Civic.

It’s made by the telephone directory enquiries service 118-118 (who’ve recently started doing other adverts sending up The A-Team). Rather than explain it (or spoil it) for you, just take a look.
