Flock

FlockThere’s a new browser on the horizon… and it’s looking pretty damn good.

It’s called Flock, and is based on the source-code of the excellent Firefox.

Although currently only a ‘developer preview’ (o.5) this new ‘social’ browser is looking immensely impressive, boasting new/exclusive features such as :

  • Blog Intergration – Blog about web pages you are currently viewing without having to jump to your backoffice/admin area. It has neat feature called ‘Shelf’ where you can place anything you wish to blog about later. When your ready to blog about it, grab it from the shelf and stick it straight into the post.
  • Advanced Bookmarks – Or rather, ‘Tagging’ as Flock likes to call it. Basically you tag each of your favourites with a particular category
  • History Search – This is basically a roadmap of the sites you visit. Now, yeah, most browsers do this anyway… but Flock has a separate area where this info can be show (the sidebar), where is broken down into blocks of days. This info is also searchable (and deletable too).
  • Most Frequently Visited / Most Recently Added – This keeps track of the sites you visit most often and displays them in a prominent place for you

There are loads more features than these, but at the moment it has a few bugs and still isn’t fully ‘feature laden’ – but signs are that this browser is going to stick around.

Flock, Firefox
